Plot
The movie “American Psycho” is a Psycho-thriller directed by Marry Harron.
It bases on the novel written by Brett Easton Ellis and was released in year 2000.
The movie deals with the life of Patrick Bateman, a New Yorker investmentbanker played by Christian Bale. During day he seems like a usual, young and rich Wallstreet yuppie, but at night he becomes a cruel murderer controlled by need of blood. He kills randomly selected, homeless people and prostitutes, but one day he risks too much and gets nearly caught by the police...
The movie shows very well the life of the young elite in the eighties. Bale plays his role of the murdering psycho excellent and Reese Witherspoon, Jared Leto and William Dafoe are doing their jobs well, too.
Mary Harron filmed Ellis´ novel to one of the greatest movies ever, although the story seems not to be real because of the extreme violence and explicit sexual content.
